The construction of the new Sillamäe 110 kV substation was occasioned by the desire to increase power generation. Merko offered turnkey delivery, meaning that all of the equipment within the project were delivered along with design work, installation, configuration and validation and handed over to the customer fully hooked up and on line. Merko supplied and installed new 110 kV switchgear and 110 kV cable lines, built a new control building where new relay protection, automation and auxiliary electrical equipment were installed. Construction took place in an operating substation, in cramped quarters.
On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
